When Miss Coley decorated her classroom for Christmas at the end of October, everyone was wondering if she was crazy!!! But she had a good reason. She was preparing for the start of Toy Drive 2013 and was hoping that the red and green decorations would be a subtle (or not so subtle!) reminder to bring in gifts for children in the area who were in need this Christmas. And as always, the Quigley family came through!
We collected over 131 gifts to donate!!! Two churches, St. John the Baptist in Baden and Our Lady of Fatima in Hopewell, were to be the recipients of the toys. However, St. John the Baptist in Baden called a week into December to let us know that their parishioners had fulfilled all of the needs of their parish. So all of the toys were delivered to Our Lady of Fatima in Hopewell. And they were EXTREMELY grateful!!! They have approximately 50 children to provide for at Christmas and they have been adding to the list as phone calls for help keep coming in. They were shocked at the amount of toys we were able to provide.
Thank you for your generosity. You have truly made a difference in the lives of many children this year. May the love of the Christ Child be with you and your families this Christmas season and the whole year through.
Congratulations to the Senior class who donated the most toys (based on % participation). They will receive a free dress down day for their efforts. They led the donations with 113% participation, followed closely by the Freshemen at 103%, then the Juniors at 94%, and the Sophomores at 65%. All of your donations were very much appreciated.
